Details
Letterpress print of Song of Spring from the Stanza Vivere collection. Created on archival quality handmade cotton rag paper with deckled edges. Because of the handmade nature, each piece is slightly different and its own work of art!

My inspiration for this painting was drawn from my memories as a dancer and characters from some of my favorite literary works, including the Wood Elves in Lord of the Rings and fairies in A Mid-Summer Night's Dream. The three dancers give a nod to the three graces, an art motif that can be found throughout history dating back to ancient Greece. The Graces (aka Charities) were goddesses in Greek mythology. Most popularly believed as the daughters of Zeus and Oceanid Eurynome, they were considered the goddesses of charm, beauty, and creativity and youthful bestowers of beauty in all its forms. The Three Graces have also represented the theological virtues of faith, hope and charity.
